Hey, check us out on Tri State Indie. Thanks to our friends at Steel City, and many thanks to Ed Roper.

Tin Bird Choir brought their brand of “barn rock” to Phoenixville’s Steel City Coffeehouse on Saturday, 8-13-11. Fronted by husband & wife duo Eric and Heather Hurlock, this South Coventry, PA based band played two sets of their rootsy folk for almost 2 hours. Well known in the Philadelphia folk scene, they are gaining more momentum since the 2009 release of their debut album Barn Rock. Backing the band was fellow members Ellen Houle on drums and bassist Josh Sceurman.

They rocked the house with a mixture of new tunes, as well as old favorites like “Truck”, “Cornfield” and “Artie Shaw”.  Opening the show was local Phoenixville folk singer Joe D’Amico.

If you missed them at Steel City, the Choir can be heard on September 18th at 8:00pm on Gene Shay’s “Folk Show”, airing on WXPN 88.5 Philadelphia
